Facts About Fargo Electrician Jobs

August 9, 2008 by Jeff Holmes · Leave a Comment

by Jeff Holmes

Are you interested in becoming a Fargo electrician? You could not have chosen a better career option. You should know though that there are steps and procedures that you would have to undergo to become successful in your chosen profession.

Jobs in Fargo

Fargo holds a great future for electricians. There are a number of companies that are currently looking for electricians to employ in various positions. A brief look at the classified ads will tell you that there are vacancies for electrician apprentices, journeymen and technicians in both maintenance and construction work. Although there may be differences in the rates, the usual payment range is $20-$40 for an hour’s work. If you have a license and a lot of experience, you can expect very good pay. The rate is more than good enough for an eight hour workday 5 days a week.

Some people seem to be alarmed at the many available opportunities. It is a common belief that the more job vacancies there are, the lower the rate. There is no need to worry though. Unless the advertised job specifies a need for an apprentice, many job vacancies are for licensed individuals.

Not everyone who starts off with a dream of an electrician career makes it through years of hard work to get a license. If you have a license, then you have a right to ask for a good rate.

What it Takes

Becoming a Fargo electrician involves taking the right steps. This doesn’t just mean taking an electrician course in a college or university. You have to decide way before entering college whether you have what it takes to become an electrician. Aside from determining your level of interest for the profession, you also need to find out if you have the aptitude and the right reasons for wanting to become an electrician.

First of all, you should want to be an electrician not because it pays decently. You should have a natural interest and aptitude for it. You would know if you do if you have an interest and aptitude for subjects like math and electrical subject electives. Aside from academic performance, potential electricians also need such skills as ability to understand technical building plans, eye-hand coordination, making quick decisions based on analysis and mastery of electrical codes.

Education

When you have decided that you are for the electrician profession, the next step is to go to school. You would have to go through both classroom study and actual apprenticeship before you can take the exam for a license. The entire process may last for five years. You also get to choose whether you would want to concentrate on construction or maintenance. In most cases though, it is better to have expertise in both areas.

It may seem like a long and difficult process but you can become a Fargo electrician. All it takes is the right motivation, interest, aptitude and determination.

by Simon M Skinner

If you’ve always wanted to work abroad, there are lots of reasons to do so when you are young. Making the most out of working abroad can be tough, but doing so when you are young can be the best choice for you.

No commitments

Let’s face it, when you are young, you don’t have anything to tie you down. You’re single, with no kids, and even your parents are used to you being here and there. You can pick up and go at any time, and this can be great for you.

There are no obligations

When you are young, chances are that you do not have any commitments. You do not have a stable job and a lot of responsibilities crowding your mind. Thus, it is the best time to try new things.

Lots Of Energy

Working abroad requires a lot of energy as most of the jobs will require physical effort and you will be required to work harder to acclimatize to the local setup. While you are young, and have energy to spare, you can go for such jobs and put that excess energy to good use and travel the world while you are at it.

Many Options

Most of the companies hire young individuals because they have the enthusiasm to work and the eagerness to learn. This also opens up a lot of options for you.

Lots to Do

There are many places abroad that look for bright young individuals for specific jobs. With so much work on hand, you will never spend a dull moment.

Schedules to suit your taste

Many young people take up part time jobs abroad and they do so because they want to work but at the same time, enjoy the new place they are in and learn more about their culture.

Short Term Jobs

There are also short time jobs available which are seasonal, like jobs at ski resorts and vacation spots which are seasonal in nature. These kinds of jobs don’t require a long term commitment and will agree to employ you for just a season. This way you can work for jobs which don’t require a long term commitment.

Lots of new friends

One of the best things about working abroad is that you will get to know many other young individuals like you. You can befriend them and learn about their cultures and also about the place they come from. Travel enriches your mind and helps you learn more about the world that you live in.

Trasvel the world

Traveling while you are young is always a great idea. You don’t need fancy places to stay or any other type of accommodation when you are young. You can also go from place to place without much worry, so its best to do so while you are still young.

You dont need too much money to live on

Work abroad jobs might not pay very much, but while you are young you don’t need very much either. This is part of why working abroad can be a great option for you. Live on what you make, and don’t worry about the rest.

Domestic Helpers from the Philippines: A New Breed of Superheroes

August 6, 2008 by Alice Sy · Leave a Comment

No less than the President of the Philippines, Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, brands domestic helpers from the Philippines as supermaids, a term, they, indeed, so richly deserve. These domestic helpers have, for years, endured the loneliness and pain of being far away from home in order to be able to give their families a better life. Because of this, they have been well appreciated and admired by people all over the world.

Domestic helpers are famous for their being good workers. Dedicated and loyal, it is not uncommon for wealthy families abroad to hire Filipino maids. In fact, many foreigners would rather prefer Filipina maids to maids from other nationalities because Filipina maids can come up with work that is of higher quality. They seem to be tireless and to never run out of energy. They are versatile workers, too. They can work from sun up to sun down, doing a variety of chores, such as cooking, babysitting, housekeeping, caregiving, and the like.

They were formerly known as DH - short cut for domestic helpers. Now, these domestic helpers from the Philippines, as initiated by Pres. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, are now called supermaids. Indeed, their new title fits their superhero-like prowess.Just like Super Man and other superheroes, these domestic helpers from the Philippines seem to showcase titan-like energy. They can do house chores before the sun rises and rest close or after the midnight. They are all around. They can be housekeepers, cooks, baby sitters, and care givers. Just name it, and a Filipina will never say no.

Abroad, these domestic helpers from the Philippines are doing very well. In fact, they are making a good name for themselves with their dedication, loyalty, and honesty.

Further, they are found to be full of life and bursting with enthusiasm, even if they are assigned to do some dirty jobs. They seldom ever complain, and they can work for very long hours from dawn to midnight. Moreover, they can do a multitude of tasks, from babysitting, caregiving, cooking, and doing household chores. Because of these traits, they are very much admired not only by their foreign employers, but by almost everyone around the world.

Another skill that these domestic helpers from the Philippines have is their ability to communicate in English. They can speak and understand English fairly better than maids from other countries. For this reason, communicating with their foreign employers does not become a hindrance to the quality of service that they render.

Another reason why Filipinas are preferred is their ability to communicate well in English. They are also fast learners with the language their employers speak. Unlike the Chinese, Mexicans, and Indians, they speak more fluent and understand their employer’s instruction better because they know their language.

In the United States and elsewhere, there is a seemingly huge demand for domestic helpers from the Philippines. Filipina maids have sterling records when it comes to their dedication and quality of work, and these records have remained unstained up to this very day.

A Journey to See the World, One Job at a Time

August 6, 2008 by Simon M Skinner · Leave a Comment

by Simon M Skinner

I bet that you are sat in your office at your desk thinking about the rest of the world and what it has to offer you. A bit that you have on occasion, open your front door to go to work and wondered ” what are the my doing”. I know that I have. If

We all have these thoughts from time to time, but I found that these thoughts would happen more and more and I suddenly realised that I had to do something about it.

I started wondering how I could get out of a job that I didn’t like so that I could see more of the world. The answer was simplicity itself. I would start looking for overseas jobs. Since I wanted to go to somewhere warm and tropical I decided to concentrate my search on the Caribbean.

I started to do some research on the web, it quickly became apparent that I would have to teach myself a great deal so that I could find the right job on the right Caribbean island. There were far more questions than answers, such as which island I want to live on? What are the Visa requirements? What is the standard of living like? What suitable vacancies were available on that island?

It didn’t take long to me to find out that the questions weren’t as easy to answer as I had originally thought that they might be. I went to hundreds of websites, hoping to find the information I needed usually. I had quite a few sites open any given time. I was writing down lots of questions, but not getting any answers.

I would toggle from one job-listing site to another, then over to a site where I could try to find out about living on the islands, then over to another site where I was getting information about getting a Visa.

It was too much. I spent more time trying to remember all the sites that I had visited than I did trying to find those Caribbean jobs. Just when I thought that my level of frustration had reached the nuclear range, I came across my saving grace. I found jobinthesun.com. This site has everything! It has tons of listing for jobs in the Caribbean, in every category you can think of (hotels, administrative, construction, etc).

JobInTheSun.com has all of the information that you could possibly need in order to find a job abroad in the ideal location to you. Their information includes currency exchange finding a work these are as well as vacancies of course. The short also check out the user forum, which has information from people who previously looked for and found jobs in the Caribbean.

Losing your Job? How to Handle Layoffs.

by Carole Martin, America’s #1 Interview Coach

Are you going to lose your job or have you lost your job? The last thing that you want to talk about is “why” you lost your job. In fact, the question

“Why did you leave your last job?”

is one of the toughest questions to deal with - especially if you’ve been let go in one form or another.

If you are one the thousands of people who have been laid off in the last year and a half, you can simply say: “I was laid off.”

The more specific your answer, the more effective it will be. This answers the question, but still leaves a lingering doubt in the mind of the interviewer, - “Why were you laid off?”

“I survived five rounds of the six rounds of layoffs at my last company, but when it came to round six they had to cut deep. My position was eliminated along with half of my group because the project we were working on was cancelled.”

Your situation will be helped by including facts and figures to explain the circumstances surrounding your layoff. Not everyone will have such a definite statement to make.

“10% of the workforce was let go,” or “One out of every ten jobs was affected, company-wide.”

When you quantify a statement it has more depth. When you tell the interviewer whether it was 10 or 1000 people were laid off helps put the situation in perspective.

Were you fired?

If you were fired, you probably dread being asked this question. Not only have you been fired, you have to talk about it - over and over. How you deal with questions about being fired will depend on how you have resolved the issue with yourself.

Here are examples of how two candidates answer the question:

Candidate #1 “From the very beginning it was clear that my new boss and I were going to be at odds. We just had different types of personalities. She kept changing the rules. One day she would want it this way, and the next day another way,” rambled Karen. “I don’t usually have problems with bosses but this woman was really overbearing in her management approach. I had a great boss, but he left.”

Badmouthing former employers during the interview is a bad idea. This is not the best way to present the situation. This candidate could be classified as a “whiner.” No one wants to hear about someone else’s shortcomings, particularly someone they don’t even know.

A better example of how to handle the situation:

Candidate #2 “The merging of different cultures had caused a major change in the way things were done. There were some differences of opinion between my boss and myself and, in the end, I was fired.. I take responsibility for my part in the way things turned out. I was let go after a major reorganization. I learned a lot from the experience, and in retrospect, I would have handled it differently. But, that is behind me now, and I am ready to move on with a new perspective.”

This is a much better answer because it demonstrates strength and self-confidence. Candidate #2 takes responsibility and deals with the question honestly.

Scripting your answer ahead of the interview will help you whether you were let go under unfair circumstances or for something you did and regret. You don’t want to bad-mouth your former employer or sound like a victim (even if you were). Practice your answer with someone in a mock interview and obtain feedback on your comfort-level while discussing your situation.

Telling untruths

One lie usually leads to another, and before you know it you are in over your head. You always take a chance whenever you put a lie on an application. The application usually has a signature line on the back where you sign, stating that the above is true, and that any false statements could be grounds for termination.Probably the worst way to handle this question is by lying.

Perspective

People lose their jobs every day. They move on and get new jobs. And, you will too. No matter what the circumstances, put it behind you and move on. Being prepared will make you feel more confident and less emotional about the situation. Deal with your feelings about the lay off or firing, and prepare your answer to the question before it is asked.

Thinking About Hiring A House Cleaner?

August 5, 2008 by Rachel Ray · Leave a Comment

by Rachel Ray

Are you considering hiring a house cleaner? Some people believe it to be a luxury item, but others consider it survival.

The reasons people hire help to clean their home vary widely. Some people work such long hours at their careers they find all their free time spent in doing chores. Many times it is worth every cent to hire it done in order to truly have your free time, which creates a better work life balance.

Some people hire help because of health issues, or the elderly many time do for assistance with larger tasks, and some people simply because of time restraints in their lives.

When thinking about hiring help, consider if you lean towards a cleaning company, or a single owned business person who does their own labor. There are advantages and disadvantages to both.

The advantages to hiring a cleaning company is if you are not happy with the work, you have recourse in complaining to a supervisor. They many times also have extra training for their employees. The negatives can be that sometimes they are more expensive in that they have more overhead they have to cover, and if you find someone you like, you may not get them the next time.

On the other side, sole propriety owners that do their own cleaning can be a great option too. It’s their reputation on the line so they usually work hard to keep that good reputation that is priceless, and to keep their customers are satisfied. Find out if they are bonded and insured. If they are not, you have to decide if that’s a chance your willing to take or not.

Interview your prospects. Here’s some things you’ll want to ask? What do they charge? What does that include? How long does that take them? Do they supply the cleaning supplies or are you expected to? Ask for references and check them. Do they clean while you are home or away?

It’s very helpful for them if you have an idea of what you’d like, such as which tasks, how often and any of your expectations.

Many people are surprised once they research that it may be very affordable to them. Perhaps it means giving up a few lattes, but that might be a price you’re very willing to pay in order to gain more free time. Alot of people who hire house cleaners find it worth every cent!

Looking For A Great Part Time Job? Try Valet Parking Attendant

August 4, 2008 by Ryan Tole · Leave a Comment

by Ryan Tole

Looking for some extra cash? Sure, we all are in this economy. Who doesn’t need additional income right now? But you’re probably employed full time already. Or, maybe you’re a student, or just someone’s who more laid back, and you just need work that’s flexible but pays well. Well, in both cases, valet parking attendant might be just what you’re looking for.

If money is your main consideration, well, that’s one of the best reasons to get a parking job. You’re not going to be the next Bill Gates, but you can do pretty well at this job. It’s common knowledge that tipping is expected when someone parks and retrieves your car. The vast majority of people honor this. If you’re out there when it’s raining, expect to do even better. Plus, your employer will be paying you a base amount.

Another reason is atmosphere. Who wants to be tied down inside a factory or retail business when you can be out meeting people, making them happy, and collecting cash the same day? You’ll be working at fancy restaurants, museums, charity balls, weddings, etc. And people will be glad to see you!

Doing your own scheduling is another great benefit. Many valet companies will let you pick what days you’re available. Want to take your wife out to see that new chick flick that’s all the rage? Don’t sign up to work that night. Your daughter has a big volleyball game this weekend? No problem. Pretty sweet, huh?

What makes a good employee? The main thing employers are looking for, besides dependability, is someone with a clean background. As in no criminal history, and a good driving record. They want drivers who they can trust not to have a collision while parking, and not to steal the car, or valuables from it. If you’ve kept your nose clean, you’ve got a head start against many other applicants.

One of the main things valet companies pride themselves on is professional looking employees. Got lots of tattoos? Well, you can talk to them about wearing long shirts, but that’s going to be strike against you, if not three. Lots of piercings? Don’t even waste your time. One or two small ones might be alright, but nothing major, or excessive is going to fly. And if you’re morbidly obese, you’re probably not going to get the job. Sorry; just trying to be honest. But if your height and weight are proportional, and you look sharp and professional, you’re just what most valet companies are looking for.

Preferably, you should be a non smoker. It goes without saying that you won’t be smoking on the job, but many companies won’t hire you at all if you use tobacco. People are very finicky when it comes to their cars, and they notice strange odors right away. And drugs? Let’s not even go there.

So, if you don’t smoke or get high, have a clean driving and legal background, and you look halfway decent, you should probably have no trouble landing a valet parking job. So forget the local burger or pizza joint. Become a valet parking attendant!

Automating Software Testing

August 2, 2008 by John Hansen · Leave a Comment

by John Hansen

Tomorrow you’re computer will yield only a black screen, your cell phone won’t connect, the TV won’t have anything airing, and even your calculator won’t complete the easiest equation. Alright, maybe that’s not the truth; but can you image if it were? Whether you realize it or not, our entire society relies on technology.

Today companies would be asking for the light at the end of the tunnel if they ignored the testing step of the software development cycle. With consumers demanding products that do more, there’s more complexity than ever before. With this complex nature comes an increased amount of flaws that are harder to find. To keep up with the newest technology, improvements in testing equipment and tools have been made.

Without these outstanding tools, our standard of living would be significantly lower. Consider every piece of technology that you rely on every single day of your life. Now picture tomorrow with all of it gone! Professionals in the industry must do their jobs with great care and attention to detail, in order for us to rely so heavily on these resources.

Individuals and businesses are always looking for products that make something easier or faster. This drives developers to create innovative products that eventually become considered necessities. An integral part of this process is software testing automation.

Everybody is looking for tools that make every aspect of life easier and faster. In many cases, developers can offer these features with innovative technology. All of these new products must be carefully searched by testing teams before they are released to the public. Testing automation tools speeds this process significantly.

It also means that customers can expect more reliable products. With growing competition among companies, products have to be spectacular in order to gain customer interest. Companies are investing more than ever before in making their software products more marketable and attractive.

A feature that is important to new software products is the ability to reprocess and reuse the functions of it. This is exactly why software testing automation is so helpful.

This is impacting the availability of products that have features that can be reprocessed and reused. Without automated testing, this wouldn’t be nearly as common.

With fierce competition in the technological field today, software testing automatic helps products stand a chance. Adding levels of complexity to products make this automated method a necessity if there are to be the fewest flaws possible.
